Media Browser Preview

by Jake Marsh on October 21, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Since the beginning of TileStack, when working on a stack, the only way you could interact and change icons and background images of buttons, tiles, and backgrounds, was to use the Stack Editor's "Resource Chooser" drop-down list. We've always known this was not ideal, but we're a small little family coder monkeys and we've had bigger fish to fry for a long time.

Until now that is: Coming (very) soon to the Stack Editor is a Media Browser. You'll be able to select a tile, background or button, bring up the media browser and visually browse through all of the images and resources in your stack and set the icon of background image of your selected object, or upload and delete resources from your stack. We think this is going to greatly improve everyone's stackin' experience.

Also, this new Media Browser will bring built-in media resources to TileStack. This means, for example, that when you're working on an iPhone-themed stack, you'll have an entire library of iPhone-style icons and user-interface elements at your finger tips for use in your stack. No more Google Image searching till your fingers turn blue!

I've embedded a short little demo video below. This video is of me testing the Media Browser in our dev environment and probably doesn't reflect the final, polished look and feel of the feature, but since videos speak louder than words, check it out:

P.S. - If you have any feature requests or comments about the Media Browser please do post them in the comments to this post, I'd love to know about 'em.
